We are starting to get a steady 7 eggs a day from our 11 hens. should start getting more soon.
This funny looking thing is part of our yellow squash. we're keeping an eye on it.

And this is one of our girls. they just love to be held and rubbed.

A little progress report on the house/ basement.
Moving right along

The man , himself. This was after he put black tar on the wood walls and then got the plastic in place. How many of you have heard of a wood basement?
This is the hose that will carry water around the basement
it was rather hard to get those holes in the right place, but Perry made it do what he needed it to!

Time for some back fill. first rock , then soil.

The boards made it all go to the right spot.

This will be the view from the main floor of the house, overlooking what will be a 3 acre lake, hopefully. There will be a lake and we are hoping it will be 3 acres.

This is Tanglewood Farm.

I thought I had a picture of our mailbox, but I couldn't find it.
Anyway, a few months back Perry's mom gave him their old mailbox. Nice big black thing and so then we needed a post for it.
We were looking at some posts Perry already had cut and I said I really like the ones with branches that kinda come out of them. We got to looking around a bit at a few trees. He picked one that had a really cool top, cut it down and it became our mailbox post. it's really tangly, hence the name change from The Wilderness to Tanglewood Farm. We are a Kentucky Proud farm and are planning to produce things we can sell under that heading.Hope you all are enjoying the blog. I don't get to it as often as I would like. Helping to Build a house, run a farm, and also driving back to our house in Owensboro keeps me hoping.

Time for some different fun.
The egg on the left is Piper's normal egg, the one in the middle is what we have been getting from one of the others and the one on the right is the size the middle one will be from now on, I believe it was a double yolk too!
Then you can see the basement is coming along nicely.
The wine and rice were gifts form our new friends from North Carolina, Julie and Roy. we had a blast meeting them and hanging out. Wish they could have stayed longer

the walls are up! YEAH! We have worked so hard on this today. it amazes me how much Perry can get done with just me helping him! he is amazing!
July 24,2015
It has really begun!

July 22,2015
The basement has been dug out a awhile. We have put in the clean rock 3 times and it got mud washed on it. so Perry talked to Kelly and the decision to make a couple changes were made.  We added plastic along with some plastic tubing and Perry made a drain around the top and the bottom to keep the rain out. so now the rock is ready to begin the build! and that last shot is from the inside of a skid steer that perry has taught me to operate.

Ground Tiger! LOL!
July 19,2015
YEAH! at least one of the 9 Isa Browns has started laying eggs. it's very small, mush smaller than it looks here next to Pipers egg. Hope the others start laying soon!
July 15,2015
This is a lash egg. We think maybe Pecker laid it. She's the oldest hen we have. It was weird. kinda hard like any other egg.

July 13,2015
Did i say the mushrooms were popping up or what? Perry found these two walking thru the woods. Poisonous, so they were not eaten.
And this little squash seems to be genetically modified.....we didn't eat it either.

Piper is working the garden. Good girl.

This is what eggs and bacon look like before being processed. :)

July 3, 2015
Mushrooms have been popping up all over the place due to all the rain we've been getting. And this little guy showed up on my stove area, no idea what or who he is.

The outhouse is finally at its home. We've had it since Nov, and now it is in it's final resting place, all dug out and settled.
